Our History

History of the Carbon County Fair after 1999

Creation of the Fair Association

The Carbon County Lion/Lioness Fair Association, Inc. was created in January 1999. The Association is comprised of the Bowmanstown/Parryville Lions, Franklin Township Lions, Lehighton Area Lioness Lions, Mahoning Lions, Palmerton Lions, and the West Penn Lions Clubs. The Association became incorporated in June 1999 and is a Non-Profit Organization 501 (c) (3).

The Association desired that the fair benefit the hard-working youth in Carbon County and West Penn Township. The fair was created to showcase the animals and projects of the youth in Carbon County & West Penn Township and provide the recognition and positive reinforcement that they so greatly deserve. In addition, the Fair assists the participating Lion and Lioness Clubs to raise funds used to support community projects, sight programs, and other Lions projects.

In our 19th year now, the Carbon County Lion/Lioness Fair Association, Inc. would like to thank everyone for supporting our efforts, including our volunteers, fairgoers and particularly, those businesses who are Diamond Level Sponsors.

Keeping a tradition alive

Re-establishing a Fair in Carbon County was a huge task. Only through faith in ourselves, Carbon County & West Penn Township (Schuylkill County) residents and businesses & faith in our Lion and Lioness Organizations, were we able to reinstate the fair for the deserving youth of our County. In 2001, the association expanded the Open Classes of the judged exhibits to increase competition by including residents from West Penn Township (Schuylkill County). The Association has a great sense of accomplishment in this fair. We hope that everyone enjoys their visit.
